Twelve Years Since Africa Lost Iconic Reggae Star

Bobi Wine, Uganda

“Today marks twelve years since Africa lost one if its most iconic, conscious voices – reggae star Lucky Philip Dube. Dube used music to preach against injustice and oppression. He spoke for the forgotten and the downtrodden. On this day in 2007, he was murdered in cold blood. Those who murdered him might have wanted to silence him, but even in death, his legacy lives on. He continues to inspire countless artistes and activists to stand for what is right even in the face of so many dangers and risks. Continue resting in power. You were a true son of Africa.”
